Grant Penrod, Training Specialist, Humanergy's David Wheatley was approached by an area coalition of international manufacturers including ASMO Manufacturing, Inc., Koyo Corporation and Systex Products Corporation to create cost-effective, practical, and common sense front-line supervisory training. After reviewing the coalition's goals and facilitating the discussion between the respective HR/training personnel, Humanergy® recommended partnering with Kellogg Community College (KCC) to provide a certificate in supervisory leadership. Work environments and training needs were identified. The pilot program was designed and delivered to the plant leadership and HR personnel to 1) familiarize them with the skills supervisors would learn and 2) equip them to reinforce the new concepts on-the-job after the training was complete. Once the customized approach was developed, the program was rolled out to the coalition companies' front-line supervisors. The six training components, developed by Humanergy® were conducted in two to four-hour sessions, offered three times during the day to accommodate first, second and third shift schedules.
