Client Breakthroughs: Training partnerships
engage leaders on the front lines

"Our employees report that they are gaining useful information from each session AND they are able to implement these new skills immediately upon returning to work. We will definitely continue to develop our leaders by participating in the Supervisory Leadership program."

Grant Penrod, Training Specialist,
Koyo Corporation, Battle Creek MI

Humanergy's David Wheatley was approached by an area coalition of international manufacturers including ASMO Manufacturing, Inc., Koyo Corporation and Systex Products Corporation to create cost-effective, practical, and common sense front-line supervisory training.

After reviewing the coalition's goals and facilitating the discussion between the respective HR/training personnel, Humanergy® recommended partnering with Kellogg Community College (KCC) to provide a certificate in supervisory leadership.

Work environments and training needs were identified. The pilot program was designed and delivered to the plant leadership and HR personnel to 1) familiarize them with the skills supervisors would learn and 2) equip them to reinforce the new concepts on-the-job after the training was complete.

Once the customized approach was developed, the program was rolled out to the coalition companies' front-line supervisors. The six training components, developed by Humanergy® were conducted in two to four-hour sessions, offered three times during the day to accommodate first, second and third shift schedules. Class size was limited to 40 participants. Training modules included:

Humanergy's supervisory certification program benefits:

  • Money-wise training...Improved front-line personnel skill sets delivered at a bargain rate due to group discounts.

  • Positive ROI ..."Usuable and doable" training with immediate on-the-job application. ASMO employees used the tools provided by Humanergy® to eliminate redundancy and focus their energy in one department.

  • Job satisfaction and heightened productivity...Program participants are using their skills and climbing the supervisory ladder. For example, ASMO employees must earn the Supervisory Leadership Certificate to be considered for promotion AND the 50 dos/don'ts have been incorporated into expected leadership behaviors.

  • Win for the community...KCC has increased the number of students served and consequently increased its revenue. The second series of classes have been opened to all companies in the Ft. Custer Industrial Park benefiting a broader industrial base. Adiitionally, participants have reported they are applying their new leadership skills to personal relationships with spouses, children and in the community.

In summation, Humanergy® assisted a coalition of manufacturers through a dynamic collaboration with the local community college, in providing a successful, cost-effective front-line supervision training program that has produced tremendous expected and unexpected results.
